I think you have it pretty straight Ross :) The sins of the every congregation are open and exposed before the Lord. If we are honest, then we recognize the sins of leaders, the sins of our own brethren, and of course our own sin. It is certainly a sad state of affairs when a group that has exalted sexual sin by ordaining those who openly practice such, has opted to criticize the Catholic leadership. As you mentioned, it has been a horrific scandal, and I am sure there has been many failures to handle the known sin in proper fashion, but I am also sure that the Catholics are not going to legitimize pedophilia, or homosexuality as acceptable preactices anytime soon. This is more than can be said for a number of major denominations.

Marti-

I just re-read your post and had a couple thoughts.

The daily life we lead is in itself a witness to the Gospel and His loving care. Anyone can walk around a quote chapter and verse...it is through our life and our actions that we lead people to ask, "What does she have that I see in her eyes, her heart...and how do I get it?"

St. Francis famously said "Preach the Gospel; if necessary use words".

That "busy" life you lead is just the Holy Spirit inspiring you to be a good wife, mother, friend, etc. And I bet a dollar that even though you never gave birth to a child you have people in your life that see you as we all see Mary...as a Mother who we can turn to for help; as an ever-present loving and understanding woman, and as a model of what we each strive to be every day.

Amen Ross. Truth alone can deliver and the truth cannot be defined by some relative idea or concepts, but must be embraced as it is; truth!

The truth is God is not only able, but it is the Gospel itself "Good News" that a man can be "born again," created anew. I don't want to be what I used to be and the Gospel says I do not have to be.

Thank God I "was" an acoholic and drug addict, and this past tense view is not rooted in arrogance or self-reliance but in faith that He will always allow me to start every day anew! Alleluia!

Alleluia! By grace alone we stand! Our efforts, or obedience, our works must all spring from the love of God and for His love.

I too can readily identify with the belly filled with pride.....being raised the independent female, it is very hard for me to run to "Dad" when I have an issue....but I am learning. The Holy Spirit is a wonderful teacher (and my most fav).

Merry Christmas my friend.
