Catholic and Still Proud

JUBA, Sudan Maybe the Catholic Church should be turned upside down. Jesus wasn’t known for pontificating from palaces, covering up scandals, or issuing Paleolithic edicts on social issues. Does anyone think he would have protected clergymen who raped children? Yet if the top of the church has strayed from its roots, much of its base [...]

The Archbishop of Canterbury

Let’s see if I have this straight. The head of the Anglican Church who condones the ordination of practicing homosexuals as bishops wants to lecture the Catholic Church on their faliings? I’d suggest he clean his own house first. The priest/pedophile scandal is a horror. No question. It has been horribly mishandled. But neither has [...]

Reading Scripture

I wish every one of you (and I might be all alone on this blog!) could know the pure ecstacy of reading scripture as the lector at Mass. It was my honor (and I am truly not worthy) to be the lector at Mass for Easter Sunday! I can only hope that God’s glory was [...]

We are called to be Merciful

“And by this I wish to know if you love the Lord God and me, his servant and yours—if you have acted in this manner: that is, there should not be any brother in the world who has sinned, however much he may have possibly sinned, who, after he has looked into your eyes, would [...]

Subdued by His Love

As I shoveled yesterday afternoon I was struck by the quiet beauty of the world we live in. The glorious beauty of a winter snow was overwhelming. I was moved to stop what I was doing and just stare and listen to the peace of a snowstorm. I could feel His love and His presence. [...]

What’s Up with our Revival?

Seems like we have all wandered off into other paths…May I invite my brothers and sisters home to our site to share His love, word and message? For me, today has been a blessing in so many ways. A chance to share my faith with an old friend came this morning; someone who also has [...]
